Your captain, Jacob
I grew up dinghy sailing off of my grandmother's dock in Harpswell. At 13 years old, I would sail to nearby islands to camp by myself, wander the rocks to find mussels or crabs, and scavenge the woods for firewood. Interests change as we grow up of course, and I pursued a career off of the water. But those experiences changed who I was and rooted something deep inside me.

Coming Home to Maine
After ten years of working in music in New York City, I started to question if what I was doing was really what was best for my soul. Being in the city was wearing me down, and I began to think about the times in my life I felt most free and alive and at peace. My mind went back to the days I spent on the water in Maine. The echos of sounds, smells, and fresh air came back to me and the call to come back north wouldn't leave until I decided to buy a boat, move aboard, and sail back north to the place I loved.

Since making that decision, I've sailed 4000 nautical miles up and down the east coast, secured a 50 ton Offshore Masters license, and have captained multiple historic ships around the coast of Maine.

Though the last few years has been a whirlwind change in career, I never forgot why I came back. I still take the time to appreciate the sights, smells, and sounds while I'm on my floating home, whether she's moored in the harbor or anchored on a nearby island. I've found that nature is the one thing that never gets old, and I want to share that with anyone else with that yearning in their heart. Cormorant is your home just as much as mine, and I hope you feel that way while you're aboard.
